Buddy and I got on Cedar Creek yesterday and for the first time ... maybe ever ... in which we basically had the lake to ourselves in early spring!!! Guess the possibility of inclement weather kept everyone at work! Wind definitely tested the trolling motor batteries and I was thankful to have a big boat to fish from!
Cloudy ... windy ... couple storms ... rain ... not exactly warm ... but we were fishing!!!!!!! Water temp still cooler than I expected at 55.
Really didn't catch as many as I thought we would but our best five would run about 17 or 18 pounds ... anchored by a 6.24 kicker fish. Caught the big one on a red Strike King red eye shad ..... caught one on a crankbait .... everything else came on a spinnerbait fished as slow as possible. Threw the A rig for a fair amount of time but no takers. Fish are a bit scattered though we found a decent concentration at the mouth of a creek arm sitting tight to the bottom that we never got fired up. Caught some on main lake wood .... some in the backs of pockets ... some on main lake with deep water close. Just had to keep the trolling motor down ... cover water ... and throw what the weather would let you throw. I'd say in about three weeks or so it should be "about right" on that lake.
