Fished this tournament today with a friend .... Brad Adkins.  If you ever meet him  ..... ask him about the 'ride'.  =)

Had two very different experiences pre fishing for this event.

Thursday after work I fished the main lake and aside from the Muskie ... did not really put together a pattern and just caught some small random fish.  So decided to change it up Friday and I went out after work and hit a cove up the Licking River and probably saw some 25 bass ... caught an over and three unders ..... all while just covering water as quick as I could with a senko.  Found bass cruising .... a few in the early stages of making beds .... and bluegill.  Best five I saw in this cove would have ran apx 17 lbs.  Ran to another similar cove up Beaver ... saw very little.  Ran a bank up Beaver that let into a cove and caught four slot fish in four casts with the senko.  Water was relatively clear and water temps in the high 60's to 71.  Nice to see activity on the shore!

Tournament morning ran to the 'magic cove' and we were the first ones there.  Sun never came out in the morning so could only make out a few fish and after two hours .. had one slot and three unders so made the move to the 'magic bank'.  It followed suit with not much activity though did see one about four pounds in early bed stages but wanted nothing to do with our offerings.  Did pull our over off this bank with a senko.  After an hour and a half there ran some different stuff from the head of Beaver all the way to a cove not far from Scott's Creek.  When the wind picked up we started catching some on crankbaits and swimbaits but never picked up another over.  Culled up our unders and had four 'respectable' ones.

42 Boats total

1st     13.45 lbs    Carrig/Crown
2nd    8.34 lbs    Barnes/Thomas
3rd     8.08 lbs
4th     8.01 lbs
5th     7.42 lbs

(sorry if I misspelled any names)

We ended with five fish for 4.97 lbs .... one good fish away from a check ......  As you can tell it was a bit tough so not sure what we would have done different.  Just needed the right bite.
